Nicole has been practicing data science as an oceanographer for the past 10 years, specializing in the development of statistical and numerical model simulations, data analysis, and machine learning. She formulates statistical and numerical models and works with multi-dimensional datasets in order to address challenging questions and make predictions. She carries out her analyses in Python, R, Matlab, and occasionally Fortran (!). While her past research has focussed on oceanic phytoplankton and even data-collecting oceanic drones, she is branching out into new domains! When not diving into data, she loves to mountain bike and kite surf.
