The program is free for participants thanks to TechHire. TechHire is a national network of communities, educators and employers who believe if you can do the job, you should get the job. The City of Atlanta's Worksource Atlanta and TechSquare Labs were awarded a $4 million grant to train nearly 400 software developers over the next 3 years. All City of Atlanta residents, ages 17-29 from low income communities are eligible for the program.
The program is 100% free thanks to the TechHire grant, created under the Obama administration in 2015.
The full-time program lasts 6 months, and each student must be available Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
To be eligible, applicants must be unemployed, undermployed, or meet the following criteria: a resident of the city of Atlanta, 17-29 years old, and either a) have not entered post-secondary education or b) have two years or less of experience working in the IT industry.
